Terms of Service

1. Service and operator

Halalmap helps users discover and share information about restaurants, markets, mosques, and prayer rooms. The operator is Hallie (할리), represented by Namgi Kim (김남기). Contact: info@halalmap.org.

2. Eligibility and accounts

• You must be at least 14 to register. This is a self-declaration, not verified age. The account identifier and provided name and email have already been shared during login.
• Provide accurate account information, protect access to your Google account and session, and notify us of suspected unauthorized use.
• You are responsible for activity performed through your account.

3. Contributions and content license

You keep ownership of content you create. By submitting content, you grant Halalmap a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, format, translate, display, distribute, and adapt it only as needed to operate, promote, secure, and improve the service.

You confirm that you have the rights and permissions required for submitted text, photos, and evidence and that the content does not violate another person's privacy, copyright, trademark, or other rights.

4. Prohibited conduct

You may share unpaid halal place recommendations, genuine visit reviews, Islamic daily-life, prayer and travel information, and related questions and answers. Respect other beliefs and cultures. Advertising, purchase inducements or conflict disguised as ordinary information are not allowed.

• No political propaganda, election campaigning or political/social conflict incitement
• No commercial ads, disguised reviews, referral income links or sales/purchase inducements
• No illegal intimate recordings, non-consensual sexual synthetic media or child sexual exploitation material
• No unauthorized personal data disclosure, impersonation, copyright/image-rights infringement or harassment
• No encouragement of crime, illegal trading, pornography or sexual insults
• No profanity, disparagement, discrimination, hate or encouragement of suicide, self-harm or violence
• No spam, deliberate deceptive information, report/like manipulation or service disruption

5. Review and moderation

At signup you agree to the community rules and sending published text to OpenAI for safety checks. Text in posts, comments, replies and place reviews is checked before publication and may include personal information you type. Photos are not inspected or sent to OpenAI. Flagged text is held for administrator review; service failures wait and retry. Pending edits do not replace the public version. Withdrawal stops new submissions and external transmission of unsent work. Posting again requires renewed permission; old held work is not automatically resumed.

6. Halal and place-information disclaimer

Halalmap is not a religious authority or certification body. Community votes, badges, comments, categories, and listings are informational and may be incomplete, subjective, disputed, or outdated.

Opening hours, menus, ingredients, ownership, kitchen practices, prayer facilities, and certification can change. Confirm important details directly with the venue or relevant certification body before relying on them.

7. Third-party services and intellectual property

The service uses or links to third-party services including Google, Supabase, Algolia, and external venue websites. Their terms and privacy policies apply to their services, and Halalmap is not responsible for third-party availability or content.

Halalmap's name, logo, interface, software, and original editorial content are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. No rights are granted except the limited right to use the service under these terms.

8. Service changes and availability

We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue features and may limit access for maintenance, security, legal, or operational reasons. We will provide reasonable notice when a material change permits it.

9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The service is provided on an as-available basis. To the extent permitted by law, Halalmap does not warrant uninterrupted operation or the accuracy, fitness, safety, or halal status of places, content, routes, or third-party services.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded. Otherwise, Halalmap is not liable for indirect or consequential losses caused by reliance on user or third-party information.

10. Termination, changes, and governing law

You may stop using the service and request account deletion at any time. Halalmap may restrict or end access for violations, risk, or legal requirements.

Updated terms will be posted with a new effective date. Continued use after the effective date means acceptance where permitted by law.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. Jurisdiction is determined under the Korean Civil Procedure Act. Questions may be sent to info@halalmap.org.

Deletion removes your community posts, comments, replies, attachments, place reviews, uploaded photos, profile and account data. Other people’s replies remain with an empty deletion marker where needed to connect the thread.

Registered place names, addresses, coordinates and contacts remain without the deleted account link. Personal reviews/photos and unapproved submission originals/evidence are not retained.

Before you continue

After Google or Apple login, completing signup requires accepting the service terms, personal data collection and use, community rules and OpenAI text sharing, and confirming you are at least 14. Optional push and email marketing choices can be managed separately and refusal does not prevent service use.

Mobile service and user submissions

You must have the rights and permissions needed for your text and images. Spam/advertising, abuse, harassment, hate, privacy violations, sexual or violent content and false information that misleads or harms others are prohibited.

Community photos may be published without prior content review. Publication does not mean endorsement or approval by Halalmap. Report and block tools are available; we may hide/remove content or restrict use following reports or operational review.

Registered places form shared map information. Deleting a contributor's account does not delete the place itself, including its name and address. Deletion of personal reviews/photos follows the privacy policy and account deletion notice.
