Halalmap

Terms of Service

These terms govern use of Halalmap, a community map and information service. By using the service, you agree to these terms.

Effective January 1, 2026

The Korean version is authoritative. Translations are provided for convenience.

1. Service and operator

Halalmap helps users discover and share information about restaurants, markets, mosques, and prayer rooms. The operator is Hallie (할리), represented by Namgi Kim (김남기). Contact: info@halalmap.org.

2. Eligibility and accounts

  • You must be at least 14 years old to create an account or contribute content unless a legal guardian has provided legally valid consent.
  • Provide accurate account information, protect access to your Google account and session, and notify us of suspected unauthorized use.
  • You are responsible for activity performed through your account.

3. Contributions and content license

You keep ownership of content you create. By submitting content, you grant Halalmap a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, format, translate, display, distribute, and adapt it only as needed to operate, promote, secure, and improve the service.

You confirm that you have the rights and permissions required for submitted text, photos, and evidence and that the content does not violate another person's privacy, copyright, trademark, or other rights.

4. Prohibited conduct

  • False halal or certification claims, impersonation, fraud, manipulation of votes or reports, and misleading place information.
  • Harassment, hate, threats, sexually explicit content, illegal content, spam, malware, scraping that burdens the service, or attempts to bypass access or rate limits.
  • Uploading content without permission or disclosing another person's sensitive or private information.

5. Review and moderation

Halalmap may review submissions and may correct, reject, hide, restrict, de-identify, or remove accounts or content that violates these terms, creates risk, receives credible reports, or is no longer useful or accurate. We may preserve records when reasonably necessary for safety, disputes, or legal compliance.

Moderation does not mean that Halalmap endorses or guarantees every published item.

6. Halal and place-information disclaimer

Halalmap is not a religious authority or certification body. Community votes, badges, comments, categories, and listings are informational and may be incomplete, subjective, disputed, or outdated.

Opening hours, menus, ingredients, ownership, kitchen practices, prayer facilities, and certification can change. Confirm important details directly with the venue or relevant certification body before relying on them.

7. Third-party services and intellectual property

The service uses or links to third-party services including Google, Supabase, Algolia, and external venue websites. Their terms and privacy policies apply to their services, and Halalmap is not responsible for third-party availability or content.

Halalmap's name, logo, interface, software, and original editorial content are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. No rights are granted except the limited right to use the service under these terms.

8. Service changes and availability

We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue features and may limit access for maintenance, security, legal, or operational reasons. We will provide reasonable notice when a material change permits it.

9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The service is provided on an as-available basis. To the extent permitted by law, Halalmap does not warrant uninterrupted operation or the accuracy, fitness, safety, or halal status of places, content, routes, or third-party services.

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded. Otherwise, Halalmap is not liable for indirect or consequential losses caused by reliance on user or third-party information.

10. Termination, changes, and governing law

You may stop using the service and request account deletion at any time. Halalmap may restrict or end access for violations, risk, or legal requirements.

Updated terms will be posted with a new effective date. Continued use after the effective date means acceptance where permitted by law.

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. Jurisdiction is determined under the Korean Civil Procedure Act. Questions may be sent to info@halalmap.org.
